Announces Partnership with Cannon Technologies for Power
Line Carrier

Spokane, WA, February 10, 2006—
Itron Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced today a new partnership
with Cannon Technologies. The partnership will enable Itron
to augment its wireless Fixed Network technology with Cannon's
power line carrier (PLC) technology to provide utilities
with an integrated advanced metering solution that delivers
reliable and cost-effective coverage in both high and low-density
service territories.
Under the partnership agreement, Itron can
offer investor owned utilities (IOU) Cannon Technologies'
PLC technology to remotely read Itron CENTRON® solid-state
meters in lower-density service areas. Cannon's power line
carrier technology uses the utility's own power lines to
communicate with the CENTRON meters and collect advanced
metering data.
The agreement enables investor-owned utilities
serving large territories and multiple states-including
rural areas-to use the combination of Itron and Cannon's
technologies in a single advanced metering solution ideally
suited to characteristics of their service territory and
customer base.
Cannon Technologies is installing its PLC
technology in Itron's CENTRON meter in the municipal and
cooperative markets to provide end-to-end solutions that
utilize Cannon's eighteen years of expertise in distribution
automation, automated metering, and demand response. Combined
with Itron's 30 years, the two companies bring nearly 50
years of experience to the industry.
