Cannon Technologies chosen by Xcel Energy to
provide enterprise wide system for load control and curtailment
4/17/2001 Minneapolis, Minn.- Cannon Technologies,
Inc. of Wayzata, Minn. has been chosen by Xcel Energy (formerly
Northern States Power, Minneapolis and New Centuries Energy of
Denver) to deliver over $3 million in load management devices
and advanced load management and web based curtailment notification
software in 2001.
With the order, Xcel is adopting both Cannon's LCR5000
nationwide paging load control device and its Yukon software
platform for many retail energy management functions. Both products
are designed and built by Cannon, an established leader in energy
management.
The system will be used to collect data directly
from a wide variety of revenue meters, publish metering data and
curtailment offers, provide load control services for customer
loads and allow customers to directly control their own loads
via the Web.
Cannon Technologies' president and founder, Ed Cannon,
had this to say about receiving the order: "We've spent several
years developing a platform solution that enables a utility to
provide customer monitoring and control services and thus leverage
distribution assets. The addition of web based communications
makes our solution a powerful tool for the entire enterprise,"
said Cannon, "We're pleased that a leader such as Xcel Energy
has selected our technology to replace competitive systems."
Ralph Dickinson, Senior Product Developer for Xcel
Energy said, "The Cannon system is an ideal fit for us, the
paging load control receiver offers us excellent communications
performance and the Cannon software combines our customer energy
management functions into a single platform". Xcel Energy
provides electricity, gas and energy services to twelve states
from Wisconsin to Colorado to Texas.
Cannon Technologies is a privately held firm founded
in 1987 specializing in the development of software and systems
for electric utility remote metering, substation automation and
load management. The company is proud of its record of strong
customer satisfaction, 12 consecutive years of profitability and
steady growth.
Cannon presently has nearly 300 electric utilities worldwide using
its products. Based in Wayzata, Minn., Cannon also has branch
