Cannon Technologies Releases loadcontrol.com
System for Nationwide Electric Load Management
September 11, 2000, Minneapolis, MN....In
the wake of another summer of record electrical peaks, Cannon
Technologies - a leading electric utility load management vendor
- has created a simple, nationwide system for direct control of
peak demand.
Cannon Technologies' president, Ed Cannon, says,
"We've planned this for a long time, and believe we are the
only company able to package software, hardware, and nationwide
communications for direct load control. This system is so simple
and effective that we get an amazed 'wow' from nearly everyone
who sees it."
The system combines a Web-based application server,
loadcontrol.com, with Cannon's LCR5000 load control receiver that
communicates via nationwide paging. Together they allow subscribers
to access their own set of control strategies, and control based
upon short-term needs for peak relief nearly anywhere in the country.
Ed Cannon added, "With the loadcontrol.com
system, multiple utilities and power marketers can create load
control systems online in a few minutes. Furthermore, a larger
entity, such as an ISO, could have emergency access to control
all systems in an emergency. The system can be used to coordinate
voluntary load curtailment by large customers and to collect and
present real time metering data through our companion service,
readmeter.com."
Because the system has 4 billion unique addresses
and 4 million groups, control can be customized to the needs of
individual users. Additionally, consumers or businesses can have
access to directly exempt themselves from control through their
own login to loadcontrol.com. The server tracks and, if desired,
limits the number of exemptions taken by any given consumer.
Cannon Technologies, Inc. is a privately held company
