Technologies, Inc. Joins Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts
Minneapolis, MN, September 12, 2005 —
Cannon Technologies, Inc. announced today their plan to
raise $100,000 for the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
The management and company will provide an initial donation
of $50,000 and will match on a two-for-one basis any contribution
by an employee, customer, supplier or friend of Cannon Technologies,
until the total goal of $100,000 is achieved. All proceeds
raised will be donated to the DEMCO Foundation, a non-profit
charitable organization and subsidiary of Dixie Electric
Membership Corporation (DEMCO), which has set up a special
account and will ensure that 100% of donations earmarked
for the Disaster Relief Fund will go directly to Hurricane
Katrina disaster relief efforts. The DEMCO Foundation is
a 501(c)(3)—therefore, donations are tax deductible.
The DEMCO Foundation asked that checks be made payable to
DEMCO Disaster Relief Fund and sent c/o DEMCO Foundation,
PO Box 15659, Baton Rouge, LA 70895.
"The population of the Baton Rouge area
has more than doubled in the past few weeks, as the local
people have opened their hearts and homes to strangers,
relatives and friends who have left the devastation in the
gulf and New Orleans area. Many in the area have suffered
and our employees wanted to do their part to try to make
a difference. The DEMCO Foundation has a strong record in
making the most of charitable funds and thus our employees
felt this to be a very worthy cause,” said Ed Cannon,
chief executive officer. “It was not that long ago
when the rest of the country assisted our customers in St.
Peter, Ada, Austin, Fargo, East Grand Forks, Grand Forks
and other communities when they were hit hard by tornados
and floods. These Cities are now vibrant and strong once
again. So, it is our turn to return the support.”
