Tennessee Valley Authority Installs Cannon
Technologies System to Monitor Large Transformers
Minneapolis, MN, October 29, 2003
- Cannon Technologies, Inc. (http://www.cannontech.com)
of Golden Valley (Minneapolis), Minnesota announced today
that it has commissioned its Substation Advisor®
System at TVA's (http://www.tva.gov)
Cordova Substation near Memphis, Tennessee. The Substation
Advisor® System is being used to monitor 400
MVA, 500 KV autotransformers. The system incorporates combustible
gas and other transformer operating information gathered
from GE Hydran, Morgan Schaffer Calisto, Cannon, and other
third party sensors; along with site weather information,
in GE Harris D25 data gateways. The entire system was integrated
and installed by Cannon.
TVA has also installed Cannon's YukonT Esubstation™
transformer monitoring application at its Chattanooga offices
to enable enterprise access to the Substation Advisor®
System; providing substation alert messages, along with
real time and historical data and trends to appropriate
TVA personnel. Information is delivered to the Yukon™
Server via wireless Ethernet from the transformers in the
substation to the TVA Wide Area Network.
Mark Goff, transformer monitoring specialist
at TVA, states that the system offers an effective method
to gather real time information not
previously available from these important transformers.
Esubstation™ is a module of Cannon's
Yukon™ software platform for optimizing energy
delivery and managing critical assets. Other Yukon™
modules include direct load management, load curtailment,
load aggregation, control of distributed generation, AMR,
and centralized capacitor control. Yukon™
functionality is offered as both an Internet based service
running on Cannon servers, or as a licensed installation
in the utility data center.
Cannon Technologies, Inc. is
