Over the past three years, dozens of companies have developed Demand Bidding applications, generally combined with meter data collection and display systems. These applications allow large commercial customers to participate in demand response on an optional basis.

Voluntary Curtailment DR Advantages
The advantage to this form of curtailment is that participating companies do not have to commit to long term interruptible contracts. Participants make decisions to participate in a curtailment event based on day-ahead or hour-ahead offers, and then get paid for their reduction based on a negotiated, market-indexed price per kilowatt reduced.

The problem with most of these “systems” is that they have little hardware for control or notification, and typically are only offered as ASP services - applications served via the Internet.

Cannon Technologies has integrated C&I Demand Bidding and Interruptible Notification into our Load Response Center application which can be subscribed as an Internet-based service, or purchased as a utility-owned platform, complete with Integrated Call Center Interface, Meter Data Collection Server, Demand Response Server, and optional integration to our energy delivery optimization strategies.

Combine Demand Bidding & Instant Direct Control From One Interface
If you are a traditional utility, why not give your dispatchers access to instant short-term direct demand response to complement your day-ahead and hour-ahead demand bidding operations? Let direct response deflate the price curve before you commit to a higher price for C&I curtailment.

In the meantime, take advantage of 15 years of experience in advanced metering communications, our web-based architecture, and our ASP-to-Ownership™ implementation programs when you look for a C&I Demand Bidding service or platform.
